Pan Yard Judges - No Show
July 28th, 2009 - Judges for the Pan Yard Judging event that was scheduled to take place at the pan yards of two of the competing steel orchestras in this year's panorama competition failed to show up as scheduled by the Grenada Carnival Committee and the Steelband Association.
The two bands that were scheduled to be "observed" by the judges were Rainbow City All Stars of Grenville at 8.00pm and LIME Commancheros from St. Pauls at 9.30pm. Both bands were at their panyards working on their panorama selections but no judges showed up for the scheduled event.
According to a Grenada Steelband Association (GSA) spokesperson, the GSA had submitted the names of eight potential judges for the event to the Grenada Carnival Comittee (GCC) but as of yesterday the GCC were only able to confirm the availability of one of those judges for Monday Night. A panel of at least three judges is required for the adjudicating of the steelbands at the panyard.
The GSA expects the panyard judging to begin tonight, Tuesday July 28th as per the original schedule. The two bands which were supposed to be "judged" last night will therefore be rescheduled to another night (possibly Friday 31st July).
